OK, I like all creative ideas, please!
I boarded my horse in an informal setting - we have a round pen, but want to work on a surface of the sand in the construction of a platform that we have very good terms as the other course. As a platform built after birth and as we all) will be broken (uses only 3 of us, we try to reach an area of 20 x 60 meters (about the same) as cheaply as possible.
We would love spray paint a wall, but my horse, that the wall!
The extravagant idea that we had wired to build towers of toilet paper, so believe me - we are for each idea, done!

What is at local nursing homes in your area, visible and scheduled for demolition. Many will gladly support you to give you the wood or sell it cheap to you because there is less need to be removed from the site for a landfill. And you're recycling timber in perfect condition!
Use traffic cones, lay them around the outside of the "arena" and then cut a slit in the top of each string, so you sit there and run the chain to its limits. Then you can use the letters in the cone-type, if you want to practice dressage! This is what I am anyway, and it works very well.ツ
we have built, and "Arena" in our use of pastures and an electric fence wire t lead to if you simply do not need to be active and closing. You can also use cattle panels.
T-posts and the rope would be cheaper, I think. You can use a field with a tractor mounted (if applicable). Plates are also great to use one of my coaches used
